Miss Sampson was beaming today. "As you may be well aware, in a few days we're going to have our annual school festival! I'm open to suggestions, so feel free to fire away!"
Rica said, "How about a joint costumed cafe with Mrs. Kondo's class?"
Miss Sampson said, "Well, we'd have to make sure it's OK with her first, but that'd be something to keep in mind."
Unknown to Miss Sampson, Mrs. Kondo's classmates had similar ideas.
"Any suggestions as to what we should do for the school festival in a few days?"
Susan raised her hand. "How about a joint ballet cafe with Miss Sampson's class?"
Mrs. Kondo said, "I'm sure she'd like that, but just to be on the safe side, I'm going to check with her. Any other suggestions?"

"Festa di scuola - School festival"
Following the proper arrangements, the two classrooms, which happened to be side-by-side, received a remodel for the festival.
Kaitlyn and Susan helped oversee the remodeling, which saw a new temporary door and passageway installed in front of the doors of the classrooms.
Miss Sampson passed by the night before the festival and asked, "How's it going?"
Kaitlyn said, "We're making progress."
Miss Sampson said, "Keep up the good work. In the meantime, what do you have ready now?"
Susan said, "Come inside, Miss Sampson; we got the temporary passageway installed, and we're almost done with the interiors. One of my classmates, who is a fashion designer in training, has finished the costumes for the cafe."
Miss Sampson said, "I trust that she got your measurements before working on your costumes?"
Susan said, "Certainly, even if she had to procure them from the school nurse."
Miss Sampson said, "Oh, yeah… I noticed that a few of my students refused to be measured, including Miss Lee and Miss Cocolova."
Susan said, "Allie Sue and a few of my own classmates weren't very keen on being measured either."
Miss Sampson said, "I'm sure they have their own personal reasons. I refused to be measured for my costumes when I was your age and in the drama club because some peeping Toms had gotten the bright idea of playing skirts and ladders while I was on cleanup duty. And was I ever pissed!"
Kaitlyn said, "I totally get what you're getting at."
Miss Sampson said, "Again… keep up the good work!"
The day of the school festival had arrived.
The classrooms were buzzing with activity as people from within the school and outsiders gathered at the various booths.
Among those booths were the more traditional maid cafe, the school play, the rock concert, the sports competitions, and a bunch of other thematics, including the Medieval period, the Roman Empire, feudal Japan, the Wild West, the Georgian era, the Victorian era, a police station, a haunted house, Greece, the Caribbean, and the world of tomorrow.
And, of course, there was the ballet cafe jointly operated by the classes of Minerva Sampson and Maria Kondo.
Ryan was dressed as Princess Aurora from The Sleeping Beauty, wearing a pink leotard with short puffed sleeves, a silver tiara, white elbow-length gloves, a pink tutu skirt, classical pink tights, and pink ballet slippers.
Susan was dressed as Lise from An American in Paris, wearing a knee-length dress consisting of a turquoise velveteen bodice and a chiffon petal skirt decorated with peacock feathers and rhinestones; white tights, and pink ballet slippers.
Kelly was dressed as Haruhi Fujioka from Ouran, wearing a lavender blazer over a white dress shirt, a red tie, black slacks, and pink ballet slippers.
It should be noted that given that this is a girls' school, there were bound to be at least some drag waitresses. Rica was among them; she was dressed as Prince Siegfried from Swan Lake, wearing a black doublet with silver trim, tight-fitting white pants, and short black boots.
There was another drag waitress from Mrs. Kondo's class; she was dressed as Conrad from Le Corsaire, wearing a black leather vest, light blue pants, and tan ballet slippers.
Kaitlyn made a perfect pair with her during the festival; she was dressed as Medora from Le Corsaire (in a costume similar to the one worn by Dame Margot Fonteyn when she danced in the role), wearing a blue corset over a white dress shirt, a white tutu skirt with attached bloomers, white tights, and pink ballet slippers.
Juanita was dressed as a Spanish hot chocolate dancer from The Nutcracker, wearing a chocolate brown leotard with short puffed sleeves and red trim, a chocolate brown tutu skirt, flesh-colored tights, and pink ballet slippers.
All in all, the lineup of waitresses and their costumes looked somewhat colorful.
Many students from other schools in the area, including Tad and Quent (the latter who went so far as to cosplay as an Ichiban student), gathered at the various booths one by one. Naturally, Tad and Quent chose the ballet cafe.
Ryan was the only one who never talked once; however, Tad and Quent were able to understand his sign language.
"So how've you been for the last few weeks?"
"I'VE BEEN DOING WELL."
"I actually like the school so much, there's a part of me that wants to become a student, but another part of me realizes that I'm a boy."
"Yeah, the closest Quent'll ever get to being a student here at Ichiban is by cosplaying as one."
"YES, I KNOW. IF IT WAS HIM IN MY SHOES, HE'D HAVE BEEN FOUND OUT FASTER THAN YOU CAN SAY 'WANDERING SON'."
"NOT MY INTENTION."
"Yeah, Quent, leave Ryan alone! You'll have to excuse my friend's blunt tone to you today; he'd probably never get the hang of being a girl."
"You too, Tad?"
"Just calling 'em as I see 'em."
At this point, a catfight broke out. Susan walked over to the scene and said, "If you two would kindly refrain from catfighting in front of a waitress… ah, Tad! Quent! Glad to see you two could show up! I see Quent's taken quite an interest in Ichiban; I could recognize the uniform from a mile away."
Quent said, "Yeah, I wanted to follow Ryan into the school, but Tad says I'm just not cut out for it and that the closest I'll ever get to actually being a student here is this cosplay I'm wearing."
Susan said, "Don't be too hard on yourself over that. If I had the power to pull strings, I'd get you in for real."
Tad said, "Hey, now, don't you leave me all alone!"
Susan said, "Should it so happen that Quent does somehow manage to become an actual student here, there's a sister school--or should I say brother school?--right next door to this one called Optimum High School if you're interested."
Meanwhile, Kelly was minding a couple of girls from Kin'iro High. One of the girls said, "To have you as our waitress, it almost feels as though we're having an experience with the real Ouran High School Host Club."
Kelly said, "I'm flattered."
The other girl said, "Thanks. If you really want to look like her any time in the future, just chop your hair some and dye it brown."
Kelly said, "Just so you know, right now green's my favorite color."
"Would you like your drinks refreshed?"
Rica suddenly stopped in her tracks and said, "Yeah, it appears a pair of customers from Kin'iro High managed to find a favorite waitress."
Her customer asked, "Why the long pause?"
Rica said, "I was just distracted, that's all."
A couple from Kin'iro High had Kaitlyn and the other girl as their waitresses. The boy said, "The power of two at work, I see."
The girl said, "I love the sight of that!"
The girl dressed as Conrad said, "Thanks! I figured as much."
Kaitlyn asked, "Is there anything we can get for you?"
Meanwhile, Juanita was quite busy with her customers. "My, my! My customers seem to like hot chocolate!"
She said this as she was carrying another cup of hot chocolate to her customer. Susan, who was paying attention, said, "Yeah, if you want a cup of warm cocoa, just ask the Spanish hot chocolate dancer!"
Tad and Quent chuckled a bit.
Meanwhile, Thirteen had summoned another flunkie. "I fear," he said, "that we are becoming stale and easily susceptible to our opponents, Pretty Cure. We need something new, something more frightening that they've never seen before."
"Like, for instance, a Fuma ninja?"
"Not just any Fuma ninja; no, a descendant of Kotaro Fuma--one with three heads, over seven feet tall, part-ogre, and inverted eyes."
The flunkie suddenly sprouted two more heads and three horns (or one on each head) and grew to a height of 216 centimetres.
"PERFECT! Just the monster I needed to take down Pretty Cure! They're currently busy with their school festival, so I believe, so use this opportunity to crush them!"
Kotaro Fuma then left Thirteen's presence.
While on break, Ryan, Susan, Rica and Kelly decided to catch the school play, Prototype, based on the made-for-television science fiction thriller by Richard Levinson and William Link.
As they were watching the performance, they took special note of the actress portraying Dr. Forrester, none other than…
Rica was stunned by her performance. She said to herself, "I thought she was just a crazy prankster, but this is a class act only she could pull off. Cor blimey, I never thought I'd see the day…"
Kelly said, "Well… it's here."
Beryl said, "Yeah, well, we'd better watch our backs."
Susan asked, "Why?"
Beryl said, "Because I heard from your friends Newton and Bailey that someone's replaced me as an evil henchperson. Only this time, it's not a test subject. It's something much more dangerous that that."
Susan asked, "What could it be?"
Beryl said, "An inhuman beast with three horned heads and a height just above seven feet."
Kelly recognized the description. "Kotaro Fuma…"
They continued watching the performance.
Meanwhile, a thirty-car pileup was being investigated by police officers. Angry words were being traded between drivers.
"That's bullshit! I never expected to see that fucking pothole in the middle of the road! It's so big you can put a Goddam giraffe in there and it still wouldn't stand as tall as the edge!"
"You son of a bitch, you were in my way!"
"All right, you drivers," the leader of the investigation team yelled, "calm the hell down! We're going to get to the bottom of this if it's the last thing we do! Are there any eyewitnesses?"
A trembling young man was standing near the pothole. The investigator said, "You there, what's going on here?"
The man said, "I saw… a figure with three heads, each with a horn on it… dig in that very spot."
"Now that's illegal! Whoever it is, I promise you, will be brought to justice, put to sleep, cut up, and burned at Kuroidani! All right, boys, follow me down the hole! We've got a three-headed monster to catch!"
Meanwhile, the monster appeared on the other side of the school gates. The police officers on the other side yelled, "There he is! Fire!"
They opened fire on the creature as soon as he had charged outside, but he kept deflecting their bullets with his rock-hard skin. In desperation, as one of them ran out of ammo, he took his car, dragged his shotgun rider inside, and drove toward Fuma, who stomped on the car and crushed it, killing both of them.
He proceeded to reenter through the gate.
Susan got up as the play reached its conclusion. "I have a bad feeling about this."
Kelly asked, "Why?"
"Don't think. Feel."
A few moments later, Kelly came to a realization. "There's a monster in the building, and we have to destroy it!"
Ryan and Rica got up and followed Susan out of the theatre as the final scene concluded.
Once in the shoe locker section, they noticed the creature, Kotaro Fuma, wrecking the place. Rica yelled, "COME ON, YOU FREAK OF NATURE! WE'RE THE ONES YOU WANT!"
The creature said, "Prepare to meet thy DOOM!"
Kelly said, "Funny, I was about to say something similar."
Ryan, Susan, and Kelly ducked behind one set of lockers and readied their transformers. "Dual fighting spirit!"
"Bodyguard, come forth!"
"The golden warrior, I am Cure Dragon!"
"The silver warrior, I am Cure Fortune!"
"Together we're Pretty Cure!"
"Evil warriors of ill fortune…"
"We shall send you packing!"
"Protecting my friends, I am Cure Fang! Let those who worship evil's might beware my power! The bodyguard's light!"
Fuma approached the Cures and Rica and snarled, "Don't take me lightly; I may be replacing the test subjects, but I'm by no means as docile! I'll squeeze your eyes so you won't be able to see me kill you!"
Cure Fang said, "Not today, you monster!"
She then punched him in the gut. He immediately felt himself moving backwards. "Impossible… you're as strong as I hear, maybe even more so. But are you a match for me?"
Cure Dragon said, "More than a match, even. I'm faster than you'll ever live to be!"
He and Cure Fortune then managed to land several punches on him. He seemed weak at this point. "Before you beat my ass all the way to Detroit, I'll warn you that I'm just at level 1. Next time we meet, I'll be more than a match for you than I was today!"
Cure Fang smiled and said, "At least you know when to give up for today.
"The path of the righteous man and defender is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper, and the father of lost children.
"And I will execute great vengeance upon thee with furious anger, you who poison and destroy my brothers; and you will know that I am Chiba the Bodyguard when I lay my vengeance upon thee!"
"SILVER THUNDER! We who are different as day and night…"
"Do join together and combine our might!"
"PRETTY CURE METAL PUNCH!"
Fuma found himself soaring into the sky. "LOOKS LIKE FUMA KOTARO'S BLASTING OFF AGAIN!"
Cure Fortune said, "What a freak. I hope we level-grind faster than he!"
Cure Dragon said, "You can say that again."
After the break, Ryan, Susan, Rica, and Kelly returned to duty at the ballet cafe. Miss Sampson said, "My, my. You girls sure have been working out at the gym today. The martial arts club's exhibition isn't for three hours, you know."
Rica said, "Yeah, we'll be ready, right?"
Ryan proceeded to mime the letters H, A, and I.
Miss Sampson said, "Look who's got her game face on."
Rica said, "Yes, and she and the rest of us are sure to impress, you can count on it!"
Miss Sampson said, "Good luck."
Three hours later, Ryan, Susan, Rica, and Kelly, having changed into their karategi, started sparring with other members of the martial arts club during the martial arts exhibition.
Lisa was one of them. "Ready, partner?"
Ryan proceeded to talk with his hands.
Lisa said, "Bring it on!"
The exhibition matches proceeded.
