The day of the talent show was fast approaching.

Both Ryan and Susan were undergoing massive preparation for that day.

Because during the talent show, they'd be dancing to the Village People's hit "YMCA".

The episode begins the Monday after the pizza party, as Ryan and Susan were once again practicing the moves they had learned from Susan's mother, Victoria.

The song was being played in Cantonese. Rica and Kelly were watching.

The song finally ended, and Ryan and Susan relaxed. Ryan said, "This is probably going to be pretty good for a first try."

Susan said, "Yeah, well, there are a few kinks we might need to work out in all this."

"Such as?"

"Such as how we still haven't picked out costumes yet, and how to enhance the choreography..."

Rica said, "You know, I really think you might want to try looking in a cosplay store."

Ryan said, "I believe it's safe now. The wanted posters the Yakuza put up, they're all gone now. Apparently, Madame Psycho decided that if anyone's going to kill me and Susan, it's going to be her."

Kelly said, "I wouldn't be too sure--I mean, since you decimated her organization, the Wild 44, she's hired some new goons, or so I heard."

Susan said, "No worries about that; we probably won't be seeing them."

Ryan said, "Yeah, but we rattled her cage, so we should expect at least some tumult from her. Anyway, let's continue preparations for the talent show."

"Il spettacolo di talenti - The Talent Show"

Ryan, Susan, Rica, and Kelly were inside a cosplay shop looking for costumes for Ryan and Susan to wear during their act.

Ryan looked around and found a few outfits, as did Susan. They returned to Rica. "Well?"

Ryan said, "I think we found some."

Kelly said, "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's pick out a good thematic for you and Susan to use!"

With that, Rica and Kelly rushed Ryan and Susan into the dressing rooms.

The following is an account of what happened afterwards.

Ryan and Susan first tried on pink and blue maid dresses, respectively.

Rica said, "Meh, it's been done."

Ryan said, "Heh. Exhibitionist."

He and Susan then reentered the dressing rooms.

They emerged dressed as bunny girls. Rica said, "Ha ha ha. Very funny."

Ryan said, "We'll make you laugh."

The next time they emerged, they were dressed in rather gaudy Medieval-style minidresses (I say Medieval-style because minidresses didn't actually exist in the Medieval era but can be styled like actual dresses from the period).

Rica facepalmed and said, "Bad idea, you two."

Ryan asked, "How about a good idea?"

They next emerged dressed as Madoka Kaname and Sayaka Miki, respectively, in their Puella Magi costumes. Rica recognized them on the spot and asked, "How about your own good idea, wise guy?"

Ryan said, "Just give me a minute."

He and Susan soon emerged wearing color-coded dresses, each consisting of a strapless bodice and a knee-length ballerina skirt. Rica said, "I was expecting something less, um, flashy."

Ryan said, "Coming right up."

They quickly changed into nurse outfits. Rica facepalmed and said, "Ugh… hello, knockout performance…"

Ryan said, "All right, let's try something that'll knock both your eyes out, so you won't have to see us perform in this getup."

Finally, they emerged wearing cheerleader outfits. Rica said, "Finally something we agree on!"

Kelly said, "Yeah, it might need some more color-coding, but otherwise it looks good."

Susan said, "You said color-coding, right? I know just what we need."

The four walked out of the cosplay shop with the outfits they decided on for Ryan and Susan to wear.

Rica yelled, "YAHOO! How does it feel to be one step closer to being ready for the talent show?"

Ryan said, "Real good, I believe."

Rica said, "I couldn't agree more, limey! Anyway… I think you're going to need some pompoms."

Susan asked, "Why?"

Kelly said, "You know, for the cheerleader thematic we decided on. And I do believe you're going to need them."

Ryan said, "Indeed."

"You ready yet?"

Ryan yelled, "Yeah, we're coming out right about now, Rica, just hang in there!"

Ryan and Susan emerged dressed in the cheerleader uniforms. Ryan's outfit consisted of a gold tanktop with a red line across it, a red pleated skirt, red bloomers, pink tights, and pink boots. Susan wore a silver tanktop with a dark blue line across it, a dark blue pleated skirt, dark blue bloomers, blue tights, and blue boots. Both were also holding a pair of pompoms.

Kelly said, "OK, now this is the dress rehearsal. We need to make sure your act is in good shape before the talent show."

Susan asked, "You ready?"

Ryan said, "I was born ready."

Then Rica turned on the stereo, and the song began playing. Ryan and Susan started dancing on cue.

Meanwhile, at the Chan residence, Victoria was listening to the song on the stereo. A maid came in and asked, "Is there anything you might like?"

Mrs. Chan said, "Just some darjeeling, thank you very much."

The maid left. About a minute later, she came back in with a cup of tea. Mrs. Chan took it and started drinking as the maid left.

This time, the choreography was closer to what would be presented during the talent show; as always, it retained the YMCA mime during the refrain.

Rica and Kelly watched them perform during the dress rehearsal, paying close attention to deviations from previous versions of the choreography to refine it.

After the song finished, Ryan and Susan relaxed. Rica said, "All right, you two, rest up. Tomorrow promises to be a big night…"

In the hallway was a bulletin advertising the talent show, accompanied by a signup sheet.

On one line was Ryan's name, next to the talent "GROUP DANCE TO YMCA". Susan's name was below, and the talent next to that name was the same.

Eileen walked by and said, "Yep, we're in for one hell of a show tonight. Group dancing, magic, acrobatics, juggling… the whole shebang. Interesting that Susan Chan's Yankee friend is going to try naming the Elements, considering how tough it is even for me…"

She continued her way.

EYECATCH

"Isn't that interesting?" Juanita asked. The audience laughed. She continued, "I knew you would. I hope you're all taking notes. Because, you know, there'll be a short quiz at the end of this talent show. Moving on.

"There's holmium and helium and hafnium and erbium and phosphorus and francium and fluorine and terbium and manganese and mercury, molybdenum, magnesium, dysprosium and scandium and cerium and cesium and lead, praseodymium and platinum, plutonium, palladium, promethium, potassium, polonium and tantalum, technetium, titanium, tellurium… and cadmium and calcium and chromium and curium!

"There's sulfur, californium and fermium, berkelium and also mendelevium, einsteinium, nobelium and argon, krypton, neon, radon, xenon, zinc and rhodium and chlorine, carbon, cobalt, copper, tungsten, tin and sodium...

"Lawrencium and hahnium and lastly rutherfordium; if there are any others, I'm afraid I haven't heardium!"

Following the shave and a haircut, Juanita took a bow and left the stage. Ryan and Susan, dressed in their cheerleader costumes, shook her hand as she returned backstage.

The next act was a juggler who was aiming to juggle up to twelve balls in one go, with each ball thrown at her by her lovely assistant.

Rica and Kelly were also backstage, wearing their casual clothes and wristbands that read "ACT MANAGER". Rica said, "Wow. That's amazing. Even I can't juggle more than two."

Afterwards, Wing, who had since recovered from her twisted ankle, performed a Kitri variation. Susan smiled and said, "Still at the top of her game after all that, huh?"

Then the announcer yelled, "AND HERE COME RYAN LEE AND SUSAN CHAN DANCING TO THE YMCA!"

As Ryan and Susan walked onto the stage, Rica said, "Go get 'em, tigers!"

The two started dancing on cue. The choreography had been finalised; what they performed was similar to the dress rehearsal's choreography, with a few minor additions.

As always, the YMCA mime that was a traditional part of the song since the Village People performed it on American Bandstand in the late '70s was included during the refrain as necessary.

Their performance got one of the biggest applause the talent show had seen that year. People were even throwing bouquets at their feet for them to pick up.

Rica and Kelly emerged. Rica said, "Good job, limey. That was really amazing!"

Kelly said, "Indeed, you didn't miss a step."

They all walked backstage.

The next night, they were gathered in front of the TV in Room 3-45, watching the whole talent show as captured on camera.

Ryan said, "Hey, I really look good on camera!"

Susan said, "I'm sure you do."

They all laughed.
