Previously on Futari wa Pretty Cure Dragon...
Goemon was fit as a fiddle the next day, operating the store as if nothing had happened the day before. Suddenly, the phone rang.
"Glad to see you're all right, Goemon."
"Thirteen really did a number on me. If I didn't have the ability to regenerate myself, I'd be dead right now."
"I guess that means Thirteen won't disturb you anymore now?"
"Not me. But he hasn't tried to get past Jubei or Nicola or the old guard yet."
"The old guard? You mean me and Mina and Helen?"
"Yes. Phone Jubei and Nicola, and tell them to be on alert in case Thirteen should show up."
"I'll do it right away. In the meantime, keep up the good work with your store, and be safe!"
"See you later."
Goemon hung up.

"Jubei Yagyu contra Tredici - Jubei Yagyu vs. Thirteen"
You guessed it--another letter of challenge in Ryan Lee's shoe locker that day.
"Does he ever give up?" he asked, steamed as ever. "Why do those damn letters of challenge keep coming in?"
As always, Susan, Rica, and Kelly were crowded around him and trying to read the letter. This time, Rica was utterly baffled. "Blimey… I really don't know why he keeps sending them, but he keeps sending them."
Kelly said, "If he keeps sending them, I'm going to be more than pissed off. If he's looking for a fight, why doesn't he come to us directly?"
Susan said, "That's why we never leave the dormitory without our transformers."
This time, the text of the message read thus:
Meet me at Yagyu/Takada Computer Superstore at high noon on Sunday. Directly involve only yourselves and Jubei Yagyu. Please be careful around the computers; it would be a shame if they were to break while still on the shelf. Your archnemesis, Thirteen
Rica remarked, "At least he's concerned about the computers."
Ryan said, "Yeah, well, he's more concerned about the computers than about us; he wants us to be careful, but he won't hold back against us, even if to slam us against spontaneous invisible walls."
"Don't exaggerate, limey!"
"Well, he could do it, so we'd better be prepared and on alert."
Ryan walked to Principal Mazda's office. "Let me guess, Mr. Lee. Another one?"
He gave her the letter. She read through it. "Great Scott… he really wants a piece of all of us!"
"But right now, not of you. If he wants to tackle you and Mina, he'll have to get past Jubei Yagyu and Nicola Terry first! And we won't let him get past Jubei Yagyu, that much is for certain!"
"All the better for us and the world."
"If he succeeds, we are all doomed. I just hope Pretty Cure will put him in his place yet again."
"I hope Mina's computers will be all right after this."
"Ah, yes. She's the co-operator of a computer store. I'd hate to see any of that merchandise broken."
"It'd be a sin and a shame for it to be caught up as collateral damage, I agree."
Principal Mazda picked up the phone. Looking it over, she cursed under her breath. "How did Thirteen figure out about my phone!?"
"Yeah, I'm pretty sure he's precognitive."
"He figured out I won't place any calls if he taps my wire. I'll check my security cameras after I call the Yagyu/Takada Computer Superstore, to see if someone suspicious was messing around in my office in the dead of night. Being the first Cure Fortune, I'm quite big on school security. So big, in fact, that I've relied on Mina's own gadgets to keep the place safe for our students. For example, all security guards here are trained to respond to anyone and everyone that yells for security, and they have to carry a bunch of tracking devices at all times so they can remove any suspicious-looking troublemaker on sight. You wouldn't believe this, but more encounters with Thirteen's goons have been made by security than have been written about in this series."
"Your security already sounds almost foolproof."
"Almost foolproof. There are times when someone slips through, but they're always removed when security guards figure out who they are. When that happens, Pretty Cure gets involved more than half the time. It's quite troublesome when Thirteen and his goons try to break in."
"You said it."
"You may go."
Ryan curtsied before leaving. Principal Mazda picked up the phone.
Mina responded on the other end.
"Emmy? Is that you?"
"Let me guess: another letter of challenge from Thirteen?"
"And we're out. Right?"
"Yes. It specifically says, 'Meet me at Yagyu/Takada Computer Superstore at high noon on Sunday. Directly involve only yourselves and Jubei Yagyu. Please be careful around the computers; it would be a shame if they were to break while still on the shelf. Your archnemesis, Thirteen'."
"Him again? When will he ever learn to give up?"
"I don't know. And get this: apparently, he's bugged my phone, and I had to remove it before calling you about this most recent turn of events."
"That reminds me… i need to check if this end's also bugged."
"…Nope. Nothing suspicious. Thirteen hasn't paid his visit yet."
"Be on the lookout for him. By the way, is your store closed on Sunday?"
"Yes; however, Jubei and I will be inside to let both Pretty Cure and Thirteen in when they show up to fight it out. I just hope they're careful around the merchandise…"
"I hope so too. See you later."
Mina hung up. She stormed into Jubei's office. "We got another challenge."
Jubei asked, "Who's it for?"
"You… and Pretty Cure."
"Who's it from?"
"The same person: Thirteen."
This time, Mina was paying close attention to the security camera feed. She saw the two eavesdroppers approaching the door again. She quickly got up and opened the door right in their faces.
"Be grateful your punishment for your attempted subversion of company policy was immediate and speedy this time," she barked. "And get back to your stations before I penalize you two for real!"
As the two men scrambled back to their stations, Mina slammed the door. "Animals! Animals! Animals!" she grumbled. "I hope that's a lesson they won't soon forget!"
Jubei said, "They'll probably do it again."
"After I opened the door and smashed them against the wall in the process right after they approached my door? Like hell! They're dumb enough already; I don't wish for them to get any dumber."
"Now where were we?"
"Discussing the challenge from Thirteen."
"That bastard!? You mean he hadn't learned from his encounter with Goemon?"
"Last I checked, the encounter ended with Goemon being wounded. He's all right now, though."
"Will anything happen to me?"
"I hope not."
Principal Mazda was reviewing the security camera footage in her office. She tried hard to make out the shadowy figure in the footage.
Then… it happened.
The figure became recognisable. It was a rather hideous abomination, about the same size as a certain foe she had fought nearly four decades earlier.
"Oh, no… it can't be. Him again?"
The day of the challenge came.
Ryan, Susan, Rica, and Kelly arrived at the Yagyu/Takada Computer Superstore around 11AM that Sunday. Mina pushed a button and let them in. In tow were Newton and Bailey.
Mina said, "Welcome to the Yagyu/Takada Computer Superstore. Please be careful around the computers; they're still brand new, and I would hate to see them break."
Newton said, "No worries, ma'am!"
Bailey added, "Yeah, we've got that taken care of!"
Ryan walked headfirst into a shelf… only, he didn't quite make it there, having been stopped a mere inch short of it. "What is that?"
Newton said, "That's an invisible wall of our creation."
Bailey added, "It'll keep all the merchandise behind it safe."
Ryan walked into an aisle successfully. Newton continued, "The invisible wall borders all the shelves here, giving them an inch of breathing room inside."
Bailey added, "As you might have figured out, there are multiple such walls of our making here."
Ryan said, "Thanks a lot, I can see that."
Ducking behind the counter, Mina said, "Prepare yourselves. Thirteen's coming."
Ryan, Susan, Rica, and Kelly hid behind the aisles as Thirteen approached the door. Mina pushed a button. He entered and said, "Quite the yellow welcoming committee. Think you're smart, huh?"
Rica said, "Actually, we are. And furthermore…"
Ryan bellowed, "NOBODY CALLS ME CHICKEN, THIRTEEN! NOBODY!"
Thirteen was met by four feet assaulting him from behind. Removing his hood, he revealed his face. Ryan asked, "Do you think we're yellow about your face?"
Then Jubei burst through his office door. "Like a rat in a trap. You never really expected Pretty Cure to attack, now, did you?"
Susan said, "I think you're the one who's underestimating us… by a severe degree, even."
Thirteen yelled, "Don't think I can't kick your asses just because you beat me three times already!"
Ryan said, "The power of evil cannot comprehend the power of good."
Thirteen said, "Unfortunately, you forget that in the real world, evil quite often prevails."
"Evil won't prevail in the long run, Thirteen, and you know that perfectly well! As long as there's evil in the world, there will always be a Pretty Cure to thwart it, like us!"
He, Susan, and Kelly got their transformers ready. "Dual fighting spirit!"
"Bodyguard, come forth!"
"The golden warrior, I am Cure Dragon!"
"The silver warrior, I am Cure Fortune!"
"Together we're Pretty Cure!"
"Evil warriors of ill fortune…"
"We shall send you packing!"
"Protecting my friends, I am Cure Fang! Let those who worship evil's might beware my power! The bodyguard's light!"
Jubei said, "And now you will face me and Pretty Cure! And you'll have to get past me first!"
Thirteen snarled, "Your ancient brand of Jap sorcery is no match for my extraterrestrial sorcery!"
"This shall determine that!"
Rica said, "OK, now Thirteen's gone too far!"
Cure Fang asked, "How?"
"He dared insult the art of onmyodo!"
"HAVE AT THEE, THIRTEEN!"
"With pleasure, Jubei Yagyu!"
Thirteen uttered an incantation in an alien language while Jubei took a card and summoned a table. He then laid down three cards, showing the Empress card to Thirteen, who simply laughed. "You call that magic?"
Jubei said, "Watch closely."
Laying the card face down, he then rearranged the cards swiftly. "Now pick a card."
Thirteen went ahead and picked the center card. It was the Time card. The text on the card read "Time: It's taken its toll on you, the lines that crack your face."
"I could've sworn you lay the Empress card in the center!"
"I thought I did, too."
"Don't play dumb with me, you son of a bitch! What the hell did you do!?"
"He played a game of Three Card Monty with you using tarot cards."
Thirteen turned to see Cure Fang staring him down. "How… how did you know!?"
"My father's an onmyoji himself; he sometimes sets up a Three Card Monty stand next to the goldfish scooping booth at the town festival in an attempt to discourage people from doing any goldfish scooping, because he knows that goldfish scooping booth jockeys are just as dishonest as Three Card Monty dealers.
"Just three years ago, during one such festival, he was approached by a guy that didn't know what Three Card Monty was. He said he wanted to play. And you know what Dad said? 'You think you're tough, then?' The guy said, 'Hit me if you can!' And Dad was polite enough to warn the guy, 'It'll hurt.'
"I should know; I saw the whole thing. That was enough to scare the kiddies away from the goldfish scooping booth that year. Now, let's get down to business, shall we? Ezekiel 25:17.
"The path of the righteous man and defender is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper, and the father of lost children.
"And I will execute great vengeance upon thee with furious anger, you who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers and sisters; and you will know that I am Chiba the Bodyguard when I lay my vengeance upon thee!
"PRETTY CURE! LIGHT OF JUSTICE!"
Jubei shielded his eyes as the flash of light blinded Thirteen yet again. Cure Fang yelled, "RYAN! SUSAN! NOW!"
As Mina pushed the button, Cures Dragon and Fortune turned to face Thirteen. "GOLD THUNDER!"
"SILVER THUNDER! We who are different as day and night…"
"Do join together and combine our might!"
"PRETTY CURE METAL PUNCH!"
Thirteen was removed from the premises. Upon detransforming, Ryan, Susan, and Kelly left with Rica. Ryan said, "I just hope we can put Thirteen down for good soon."
As she watched them leave, Mina said, "I hope so, too."
Back at his place, Nicola received a call from Principal Mazda.
"Nicola, thank goodness you were able to answer! Letters of challenge just keep appearing left and right; I don't know when they'll stop."
"I personally hope they stop with me. Thirteen obviously doesn't know who he's dealing with."
"At this point, it's safe to say you're right. I just learned that Jubei managed to outwit him with a game of Three Card Monty armed with only tarot cards and the ancient art of onmyodo."
"That onmyodo is potent stuff; I hear it's not to be messed with."
"I assure you, you may have been watching too many movies. But yes, I'll agree that Jubei Yagyu is second only to Abe no Shimei when it comes to onymodo. Anyway, stay on alert for Thirteen in case he dares to send another letter of challenge."
"Understood. See you later."
Nicola hung up.
