"Six plus six plus six… eighteen. The number of the beast. MY number."
Kotaro Fuma laughed evilly as he sharpened his claws.
"It has been nearly twice that long since you embarrassed me at your school's festival… now I'm going to get my revenge on you three!"
SCRAPE! SCRAPE! SCRAPE! SCRAPE!
"When I'm through with you, even your own friends will not recognize you afterwards!"
SCRAPE! SCRAPE! SCRAPE! SCRAPE!
"You'll require plastic surgery to carry on without masking your faces in public!"
SCRAPE! SCRAPE! SCRAPE! SCRAPE!
"Then you'll realize it was a mistake to cross paths with Kotaro Fuma!"
SCRAPE! SCRAPE! SCRAPE! SCRAPE!
"Now, at last… my counterstrike shall begin."

"Kotaro Fuma contrattacca - Kotaro Fuma Strikes Back"
Meanwhile, it seemed like another peaceful day at Ichiban High.
Miss Sampson's class came and went without incident, with students reading from such texts as Hammett, Doyle, Shaffer, Dickens, Leonard, and Q & U.
Among the works were "The Glass Key", "The Hound of the Baskervilles", "Amadeus", "A Christmas Carol", "A Study in Scarlet", "Great Expectations", "The Maltese Falcon", "Rum Punch", and "Kill Bill: A Saga of Love and Revenge as Told by The Bride".
Rica was assigned "Kill Bill: A Saga of Love and Revenge as Told by The Bride". The passage she was to read in class was from Chapter 8: The Cruel Tutelage of Pai Mei.
Miss Sampson said, "And now, Miss Watson will read a passage from the epic Kill Bill: A Saga of Love and Revenge as Told by The Bride. Miss Watson, if you'll please turn to Chapter 8…"
Rica proceeded to read from the following passage in plain English:
I never told Bill until the end, but Pai Mei considered me, a female honky from the Occident, to be his greatest student in spite of it all. I learned more from him than I could ever learn from Bill, and my respect for him eventually won me his respect. I'll never forget the day of my final lesson under him, when he taught me the technique that he had never before, and never since, taught anyone else.
The Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique.
He saw character in me that he had only seen in other Chinese purebloods like himself, character that was key to the very principles of Confucianism. Indeed, for him to have taught me such a technique as that, he had to have seen such strong virtue in me. As the wise man once said, "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." The wise man also said, "Do unto others what you want done unto you."
On our final parting, Pai Mei told me, "You are a blonde American woman. But you are not like other blonde American women. You are my greatest student. Remember my teachings, and you will go far. I bid you farewell."
I remembered his teachings as I checked with a flashlight for a weak spot in the casket. I found it on the lid. Before I started punching, I said, "Thank you, Pai Mei. You have saved my life with your teachings, and I am eternally grateful."
With much effort, I punched through the lid, escaped from the casket, and dug my way back into the realm of the living, prepared to continue the path I had wisely set in this forest of revenge and pick up with Budd where I had left off.
I would never get the chance, though, as Elle Driver stole it from me behind my back. But I would not rest until Elle Driver and Bill also got theirs.
Miss Sampson said, "Now, this may not sound like typical reading material even for a high schooler, but the Q of Q & U, Quentin Tarantino, is a master of storytelling. Think of Kill Bill: A Saga of Love and Revenge as Told by The Bride as a modern-day Count of Monte Cristo, with a female lead, samurai swords, gangsters, old West action, martial arts, and a somewhat happier ending."
It was Kaitlyn's turn to read; her passage, in an abridged form from the textbook, came from the old ghost story, "Frankenstein (or, the Modern Prometheus)".
It was on a dreary night of November that I beheld the accomplishment of my toils. With an anxiety that almost amounted to agony, I collected the instruments of life around me, that I might infuse a spark of being into the lifeless thing that lay at my feet… by the glimmer of the half-extinguished light, I saw the dull yellow eye of the creature open; it breathed hard, and a convulsive motion agitated its limbs… his yellow skin scarcely covered the work of muscles and arteries beneath; his hair was of a lustrous black, and flowing; his teeth of a pearly whiteness; but these luxuriances only formed a more horrid contrast with his watery eyes, that seemed almost of the same colour as the dun-white sockets in which they were set, his shrivelled complexion and straight black lips… I beheld the wretch—the miserable monster whom I had created… one hand was stretched out, seemingly to detain me, but I escaped and… took refuge in the courtyard belonging to the house which I inhabited, where I remained during the rest of the night… fearing each sound as if it were to announce the approach of the demoniacal corpse to which I had so miserably given life.
Miss Sampson said, "I'm pretty sure that would've scared readers straight; to many a reader, such an act as bringing the dead back to life would've been seen as one of the most tragic mistakes man could make. Indeed, if that were me creating new life, I'd be even more mortified!"
A passage was then read from "Great Expectations" as the scene came to a close.
After class, Ryan, Susan, Rica, and Kelly were in the cafeteria watching the news. Kelly asked, "Anything I need to know about?"
Rica said, "We read passages from various pieces of foreign literature."
"Kill Bill: A Saga of Love and Revenge as Told by The Bride by Q & U, Frankenstein (or, the Modern Prometheus) by Mary Shelley, and Great Expectations by Charles Dickens."
Kelly said, "Susan and I were stuck with algebra. Susan put hers away in no time, but I'm no good with math."
Susan said, "Aw, don't be so hard on yourself, Kelly!"
Kelly said, "There's a reason why Susan's my study buddy; she knows some subjects I'm no good at, and there are some I'm good at that she isn't."
Ryan said, "I kind of see your point."
Rica said, "Tomorrow, we'll see who can finish their slices of pizza first. Three to a competitor. What do you say?"
Ryan said, "Bring it on."
Rica said, "Tomorrow it is, then!"
Suddenly, the news was broken. "This just in, an oni is on the loose! Sheriff Henry Watson has received reports about sightings of a creature who identifies himself as Kotaro Fuma."
Ryan said, "I don't believe it…"
Susan said, "I'll say this for him: he's one persistent son of a jackal."
Rica said, "Uncle Henry really hates monsters that just want to cause trouble. Why, just last week he issued an arrest warrant for some sorceress from out of town for child endangerment. According to the complaint he had received, two children almost died because of her, and they would've died if not for the intervention of another group of girls who call themselves Pretty Cure."
Kelly said, "That's nice to hear. That the children survived the ordeal, that is. I hope the reward for bringing the sorceress to justice is higher than the reward for bringing her in alive."
Rica said, "Also, he's currently got a reward poster up for, of all people, Count Vlad Dracula! You know what for? No less than eight counts first-degree murder, five counts statutory rape, four counts rape resulting in death with malice aforethought, defrauding a solicitor, manufacturing poison with intent to kill, and square dance calling!"
The reporter continued, "Sheriff Watson is, at present, announcing what to do about this Edo-period reprobate."
Sheriff Watson appeared onscreen and said, "When last we heard from Kotaro Fuma, he had broken into Ichiban High by digging a tunnel in the middle of the road right in front, causing major traffic jams that lasted all the way past Halloween and a few more days besides.
"Who knows what he'll do next? All I know is, it ain't gonna be pretty. A thousand dollars alive, ten thousand for his head!"
Rica said, "That's Uncle Henry for you; always willing to put a price on the head of scumbags among both the humans and the monsters. I think there's still an outstanding reward poster for the burglar known by the alias Gringo Killer.
"According to Uncle Henry, if a reward poster's still up, either he was too lazy to take it down when it was no longer needed, or the crook in question hadn't been caught yet. In this case, he hasn't been captured yet."
Ryan asked, "Who's the Gringo Killer?"
Rica said, "Some freak of nature whose real name is Takera Midorikawa. He's an equal-opportunity burglar, he burglarizes houses at random. What isn't random are those that are present at the time who he kills. His actions have reportedly disgusted even the local Yakuza chapters, who have put their own price on his head."
Kelly asked, "What about everyone else?"
Rica said, "This is a rare moment where everyone in a community, appearance traits and backgrounds be damned, puts old grudges to rest, even temporarily. Everyone's either after his blood or wanting to turn him in to Uncle Henry for that hefty reward. Keep a sharp eye out, because Uncle Henry's got several reward posters for criminals that haven't been caught yet. But for now, let's concern ourselves with bringing him Kotaro Fuma's head."
Kelly said, "Good idea. Only question is, how do we destroy him?"
Rica said, "Do I look like I'm Pretty Cure? You three are Pretty Cure, you try to figure it out for yourselves. I, on the other hand, will try to figure it out for myself. Now let's get some ideas together! Torches, pitchforks, anything that can kill or severely weaken an oni! Let's give that monster hell!"
Meanwhile, Kotaro Fuma stomped over to the entrance of Ichiban High. He saw the tunnel he had dug earlier filled up.
Stomping on what was once his tunnel, he yelled, "I'LL BE WAITING, PRETTY CURE! YOU'LL PAY DEARLY FOR MESSING WITH KOTARO FUMA!"
Susan said, "How about we just fight him without any outside inanimate assistance? I've always wanted to tear a monster apart with my bare hands!"
Ryan said, "Good. Our training under Lisa Osbourne will not have been for nothing."
Rica said, "Then let's go!"
Meanwhile, Muramasa was still busy forging the finest blade he had ever forged, for the purpose of destroying Nobunaga Oda.
Ryan, Susan, Rica, and Kelly walked into Principal Mazda's office. Ryan said, "We have reason to believe that Kotaro Fuma, who we took on nearly three dozen days ago, is outside the school waiting for us to take him on."
Principal Mazda asked, "Is anyone else who isn't a Pretty Cure tagging along?"
Rica said, "Actually, Principal Mazda, I'm the only one besides Pretty Cure who'll dare to take this beast on."
Principal Mazda said, "Nothing less from the niece of Sheriff Watson. I just hope you make it out of this one alive…"
Rica said, "Anything for the principal!"
She then left the office, along with Ryan, Susan, and Kelly. Principal Mazda picked up the phone to call Mina. "Hi, Mina. Our successors are about to take on Kotaro Fuma. Yes, that oni son of a jackal. All I have to say is, best of luck to them, because the fate of the martial arts depends on them, as it depended on us four decades ago."
They left the building only to see Kotaro Fuma himself at the gate. Ryan said, "You sure are patient today, Kotaro Fuma."
Fuma said, "All this patient waiting has led to this… I'm about to get my just desserts. Come on out, I don't want to smash the freaking gate!"
Ryan, Susan, Rica, and Kelly opened the gate and closed it behind them. Kotaro started punching at them. Only this time, he never once held back.
In a very short time, all four were knocked down within a few punches.
"Damn it," Ryan muttered as he picked himself back up, dusted off his skirt, and fixed his neck ribbon. "He's so strong…"
Kelly said, "Well, he did give us fair warning."
Ryan said, "Don't you think I know that? Our only chance is if we become Pretty Cure yet again."
He, Susan, and Kelly ran behind a grove of trees and readied their transformers. "Dual fighting spirit!"
"Bodyguard, come forth!"
"The golden warrior, I am Cure Dragon!"
"The silver warrior, I am Cure Fortune!"
"Together we're Pretty Cure!"
"Evil warriors of ill fortune…"
"We shall send you packing!"
"Protecting my friends, I am Cure Fang! Let those who worship evil's might beware my power! The bodyguard's light!"
What Kotaro Fuma dished out at them, they returned threefold. The punishment they delivered was thrice as vicious as that delivered to all three Cures plus Rica courtesy of Fuma himself.
Their punches were thrice as powerful, and their comeback was thrice as spectacular as the beatdown Fuma had inflicted.
They were not going to give up.
Not until the martial arts were once again safe for a very long time to come.
Cure Fang walked up to Fuma. "Had enough?"
Fuma said, "No… have you?"
Cure Fang said, "Hardly. In any case, you had better give up. You know you can't beat the three of us."
Rica asked, "How about the four of us?"
Cure Fang said, "Well, there you have it. Before you get removed by the Yonnin School of Martial Arts, let me recite a passage that sort of fits this occasion. Ezekiel 25:17.
"The path of the righteous man and defender is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he, who in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper, and the father of lost children.
"And I will execute great vengeance upon thee with furious anger, you who would attempt to poison and destroy my brothers and sisters; and you will know that I am Chiba the Bodyguard when I lay my vengeance upon thee!
"PRETTY CURE! LIGHT OF JUSTICE!"
The bright light blinded Fuma and left him susceptible to the finisher. Cure Fang said, "Nothing like a temporary blinding light to leave our opponent exposed."
Rica said, "He's all yours."
Cures Dragon and Fortune nodded. "GOLD THUNDER!"
"SILVER THUNDER! We who are different as day and night…"
"Do join together and combine our might!"
"PRETTY CURE METAL PUNCH!"
Fuma never saw it coming. "YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE LAST OF ME!"
As Cure Fang watched as Fuma was thrown all the way to Detroit, she said, "You try to desecrate our alma mater, and you'll have seen the last of us."
After the Cures detransformed, they reentered through the school gate.
Sheriff Watson was in his office. His phone rang. "Hello? Rica? How many times do I have to tell you? When I'm on duty, you don't address me as Uncle Henry, you address me as Sheriff Watson. Just Sheriff will do fine, though, since you're my niece.
"Anyway, this is about one of the crooks I want dead or alive, right? You saw one of them? You fought him? But he got away? You and these Pretty Cure girls just keep an eye out for him, and if they don't send him flying to Detroit with their finishing attack, you four bring him in alive, and the reward will be multiplied by ten for bringing him to justice.
"If it's possible to bring his head after killing him, I'd prefer you bring it as proof, all right? Thank you, Rica. Goodbye!"
Sheriff Watson hung up. He said, "Fuma's still on the lam… I just hope Pretty Cure puts him down soon before this town is driven crazy by his antics."
Mina and Jubei were closing up shop for the night. The phone rang. It was Goemon wanting to talk with Mina.
"What do you want, Goemon? The store's closing. It's not about the store? It's something else? What is it? Nobunaga Oda's planning another caper? And he's going after your store? I'll let Principal Mazda know right away. Thank you. Goodbye."
Mina hung up as Jubei yelled, "MINA! ARE YOU FINISHED YET?"
Mina said, "Yes, Mr. Yagyu, as a matter of fact, I had just finished when the phone rang. It was our old friend Goemon Ishikawa, tipping us off that he had caught wind of another of Nobunaga Oda's schemes."
Jubei said, "Name the where and when."
"I don't know when, but I know where."
Jubei said, "Tell me."
Mina said, "Fictional Devices R Us."
