Previously on Futari wa Pretty Cure Dragon...

Back at the ball, Ryan, Susan, and Kelly looked quite exhausted. Kelly herself noted, "We nearly fell in that tunnel the Fuma weirdo made a while back in his attempt to kill us. Then we figured out that Oda had gone through the tunnel to get into the school."

The principal said, "Yeah, I've been meaning to fill up that tunnel for about a week."

Susan said, "That's good. We certainly don't want any car accidents near the school grounds."

The three resumed their dancing with the other attendees at the ball.

As she watched, the principal said to herself, "They certainly are a unique bunch, those Cures. And I've always wanted to see a boy come into the school by accident."

There are two things that may be on your mind right now.

How did she know that they were Pretty Cure?

More importantly, how did she know that Ryan Lee was a boy?

These and other burning questions shall be answered in tonight's episode of Futari wa Pretty Cure Dragon.

"Nostra direttora - Our Principal"

Many years ago, the principal, Emmy Mazda, was herself a student at the then-new Ichiban High. She was a member of its first class, as well as one of its smartest students.

Her friend, by comparison, was a girl from another school--a boys' school. And not because she wanted to attend (not that she didn't enjoy it, of course); no, she had been enrolled there by her father, a former naval officer who had been discharged after World War II and made his living as a karate instructor.

They were an odd couple, and some of their peers thought they were in love.

One strange visit would change their destinies forever, though…

It all started when Emmy and her friend, Mina Takada, received a pair of strange disks from a store where they had met just weeks earlier. The two also received a new computer kit that was becoming popular in America back in the day, the MITS Altair, from the mysterious one-eyed shopkeeper, Yagyu Jubei.

"I put it together, and yet the damned thing didn't work--I was this close, I mean it, I was THIS close to destroying the Goddam thing!"

Emmy said, "Language, please! This is a public shopping area."

Jubei said, "A thousand apologies, young lady; not since I first set up this computer store did I come across a defective model that was D-O-freaking-A!"

Mina said, "Well, if we took it off your hands, Mr. Yagyu, it would likely do you a favor."

"Yes," Jubei said, "please do, only try to figure out what in the name of Hanzo Hattori is wrong with this motherboard!"

"Sir, yes sir!" Mina said. She took the box as another customer walked in. "Mr. Yagyu, your imported computers are completely and totally unreliable!"

Jubei said, "Funny, I only got one defective model, and it looked like an isolated incident."

"Yeah, well, who's got that one?"

"A youth attending Fujiyama Private Academy, who's apparently good with computers. Why don't you take it to her?"

Emmy said, "I'd like to, Mr. Yagyu; I'm a friend of hers."

"Then do it, and may Buddha be with you."

Mina saw Emmy try to catch up to her. She was amazed, to say the least, to see another busted-up MITS Altair in her hands. "How did you get it?"

Emmy said, "Another one came in that was all over the fritz, and Mr. Yagyu had me take it to you to try to fix it."

Mina said, "I've got an idea: why don't we try to figure it out together?"

Emmy said, "I'd like that!"

Mina said, "Meet me at my place after dinner, all right?"

Emmy said, "Certainly!"

The Takada house was abuzz with the news.

"And so he gave it to me for free, considering he wouldn't be able to sell it anyway! He must think I'm a technological genius or something. I've never put a MITS Altair together before!"

Mr. Takada said, "Well, try reading the instruction book that comes with it. It could be of some help."

Mina said, "I can't wait to figure out what's wrong with it… thanks for the meal!"

As Mina went up to her room, Emmy knocked on the door. Mrs. Takada answered. Emmy said, "I was invited by your daughter."

Mrs. Takada said, "Yes, well, do come in and make yourself at home."

Emmy walked into the house and removed her shoes.

Mina put together her new computer. "Time to work some magic on this stubborn son of a bitch!"

She inserted the floppy disk, hooked up her TV, and awaited the results.

What happened next surprised her.

A laser shot out of the TV and shone in one spot, moving around to form a plush doll-like creature. "What is this, some kind of corporate prank?"

The creature said, "Of course not! You just needed a TV to get this one working! By the way, is your friend done building her Altair 8800?"

Emmy said, "Almost!"

The creature said, "Now unhook your computer from the TV. It should work properly now."

Mina unplugged the TV and attempted a calculation. The computer functioned as normal. Emmy hooked up her own computer, and the laser printing process repeated itself.

Mina said, "I said I wanted to work some magic. Just not like this."

The second creature said, "I'm Momoko, and the boy's name is Aoki. Watch out. There's a shady character in town, and his name is Thirteen. He's sent someone to kill Yagyu Jubei."

Mina yelled, "Unforgivable! We'd best head over and rescue him!"

They arrived at the computer store and found Jubei fending off a redheaded young man clad in a brown jumpsuit.

Jubei wasn't doing very well. Mina and Emmy ran over to the man. "Hey! You! The Soviet ang moh! Yes, you!

"How dare you act like a violent thug toward a shopkeeper! You're not like the other redheads I've met--in fact, you're one despicable red-headed shit!"

Suddenly, Mina and Emmy found themselves undergoing a henshin sequence. "DUAL FIGHTING SPIRIT!"

When it was all over, Mina was clad in a pink short-sleeved Chinese jacket with a gold dragon on the front, pink arm warmers, red shorts, pink tights, and red boots.

Emmy was clad in a blue knee-length kimono with a silver 7 on the front, blue arm warmers, white tights, and blue boots.

"The golden warrior, I am Cure Dragon!"

"The silver warrior, I am Cure Fortune!"

"Together we're Pretty Cure!"

"Evil warriors of ill fortune…"

"We shall send you packing!"

The redhead turned toward the Cures. He had a Fu Manchu goatee and red eyes. "Call me Vlad the Gutripper, for I shall rip your guts out!"

Mina suddenly burst out laughing. "An ang moh in the role of Fu Manchu? Don't make me laugh!"

Vlad asked, "Is my goatee something to laugh about? Is that it!?"

Mina said, "You're right. You're going down, you son of a bitch!"

With that, Mina landed a kick on him. She then started unleashing her martial arts skills on him until he could barely stand. Emmy said to herself, "I've got to learn how to fight like that!"

Suddenly, the box in which she had inserted her floppy disk expelled a sheet of paper. It read "FINISHING MOVE! QUICK!"

She ran over to Mina. "That's enough!"

"I just got a message that we should do a finishing move!"

Vlad asked, "Who told you that?"

"Just some science fiction portable computer thing, I don't know."

Mina said, "I've got a good idea on how to deal with the prick here."

Emmy said, "Tell me."

"SILVER THUNDER! We who are different as day and night…"

"Do join together and combine our might!"

Vlad was sent flying by the magnitude of their punch. Emmy said, "You've got to show me how to fight like that, Mina!"

Mina said, "I'd be more than willing to!"

Apart from Vlad the Gutripper, the rogues gallery Mina and Emmy had to face off against included young Akasha, who defected after several encounters and nearly paid with her life; Beau, who used his handsome looks, natural charm, and suave persona to further Thirteen's agenda; and Nobunaga Oda, a rebellious subordinate who was always plotting to usurp Thirteen and was the only member of this incarnation of Thirteen's squad to return to fight the current Cures Dragon and Fortune.

More details about the adventures of Mina and Emmy will come shortly.

Back in the present, Principal Mazda paid a visit to the Yagyu/Takada Computer Superstore. Walking up to the manager, Mina Takada, who was clad in a black waistcoat worn over a white dress shirt, black slacks, and black shoes, she said, "I'd like to discuss something with you, Mina."

Mina recognised the woman at once. "Emmy?"

Emmy said, "You haven't changed a bit since I last saw you."

Mina remarked, "Actually, I'm the business partner to the Yagyu Jubei. From his store's humble beginnings as a MITS Altair importer, he's risen to the top of the local computer retailing game. Hard to believe, huh?"

Jubei walked over to them just as Mina mentioned it. He was still wearing the same eyepatch.

"I'm not the only one, of course--for example, a small animation studio operated by two brothers in Kansas City is now one of the top movie studios in Hollywood."

Emmy said, "Interesting."

Mina said, "Please state your business, Emmy; I'm a busy woman!"

Emmy said, "It's concerning our old enemy, Nobunaga Oda."

"Yeah, what about him?"

"It appears as though he's come back."

"Does Nicola Terry know about this?"

"I trust Ryan, Susan, and Kelly will have let him know by now. If anything, Ryan's proven to be quite the interesting student at my academy. Indeed, for a boy he seems to be able to act girly. Though it's not the only reason why I'm keeping him on board, it's quite clear to some of us that he wound up at the school for a reason."

Mina said, "Yes. He's my successor."

"As is Susan my successor."

Meanwhile, Nicola discovered a message in his mailbox. "To Nicola from Ryan, Susan, and Kelly. Please open. Urgent."

Nicola opened the letter.

"On All Hallows Eve we fought a nasty little bugger named Nobunaga Oda. He seems to be highly dangerous. We're lucky he went easy on us for the fight."

Almost at once, Nicola shuddered. "Impossible… wasn't Nobunaga Oda vanquished 35 years ago?"

Taking his sword, he said, "You're going to need my help more than ever now."

"There is a third in your ranks, and she's right under your nose."

Mina said, "Oh, great. Tell us something else we don't know!"

"Your successor, Mina, will be a boy who will attend the same school Emmy goes to."

Mina laughed and said, "That'll be the day!"

"Laugh all you want, but I have never sounded more serious since I emerged from that floppy disk when you put that computer together."

Emmy asked, "Who will my successor be?"

Momoko said, "Your successor, Emmy, will be a girl."

"That sounds more plausible."

"She'll be going to your school."

"Will they be classmates?"

"Not exactly. They'll be dormmates."

"I give up. I know the third Cures either at the boys' school or the girls' school, but where?"

"That's where Mina comes in. This Valentine's Day, the girls of Ichiban will be visiting Fujiyama to offer chocolate to the students. One of the girls from whom Mina will be receiving chocolate will be Cure Fang. Oh, and here's another hint: she will be one of your classmates."

Mina said, "Sort of like a spy game played by the heroes in search of their new ally… count me in!"

Valentine's Day had come.

Both Ichiban and Fujiyama were quite busy with the cross-school festivities that took place annually.

Mina got quite a bit of chocolate. "Wow, Emmy, I'm popular even among the girls! So much of that rich, sweet, sugary stuff in one day!"

Emmy noted, "Yeah, that's quite a bit."

Mina said, "And I bet it's going to be so tasty!"

Emmy said, "That said, let's get down to business."

Mina said, "Oh. The names. Are they any you recognise?"

Emmy said, "One of them should sound familiar."

Mina said, "Well, I got some chocolate from girls named Ray Sakurai, Harriet Iba, Helen Masuo, Kaitlyn Owada, Katherine Redmond, Marcia Wing, Rachel Beacham, Sally Suzuki, and Sakura Autrey."

"Anyone else?"

"Nope. I don't think so."

"I think I recognise one of the names."

"Which one?"

That one, Helen Masuo, was fending off Nobunaga Oda by herself. Soon, though, Oda was starting to gain the upper hand in the fight.

Not for long, though.

Mina and Emmy, who had already transformed, showed up to confront him.

"The golden warrior, I am Cure Dragon!"

"The silver warrior, I am Cure Fortune!"

"Together we're Pretty Cure!"

"Evil warriors of ill fortune…"

"We shall send you packing!"

Oda said, "Well, if it ain't my archnemeses! Prepare to meet thy doom!"

Mina said, "Funny, I was just about to say something similar."

Throwing Helen down to concentrate on the Cures, Oda lunged at them. They dodged. Emmy was able to land a few punches and kicks on Oda, but inevitably she and Mina were both overpowered and nearly choked to death.

Suddenly, Helen saw a glowing object resembling a U-Matic tape appear out of nowhere. She picked it up. Suddenly, she started to glow.

When it was over, she was clad in a green frilly mid-thigh kimono, green arm warmers, green bike shorts, black tights, and green boots.

"Protecting my friends, I am Cure Fang! Let those who worship evil's might beware my power! The bodyguard's light!"

Helen proceeded to walk up to Oda and shine a piercing light on him with these words: "PRETTY CURE! LIGHT OF JUSTICE!"

This caused Oda to loosen his grip on both Mina and Emmy. Helen yelled, "NOW! GET THIS CREEP OUT OF HERE!"

Mina said, "You've got it. GOLD THUNDER!"

"SILVER THUNDER! We who are different as day and night…"

"Do join together and combine our might!"

Nobunaga Oda was gone. Unknown to Mina, Emmy, and Helen, he had gone into hiding. Helen said, "You're going to need me. Thirteen's plan will be implemented soon, and his mindless goons will be too tough just for the two of you."

Emmy said, "Thanks, Helen."

Helen said, "Any time."

"I trust you let Nicola know about Oda?"

Ryan said, "Yes."

Principal Mazda said, "I thought you wouldn't know I knew about you all along."

"I knew. But I don't think most of the school would know about me. The truth is, I don't think I want them to."

"Ah, well, it's all for the better at the moment."

"How have your friends been for the last 35 years?"

"Mina's running a computer retailing chain with Yagyu Jubei that's based here in Millennium City. Helen's a teacher of the Ryukyu style of karate. Akasha's a screenwriter."

Susan said, "Mrs. Mazda, you're looking at me funny. Why?"

"Oh, I'm just remembering the events of 35 years ago. I was just like you when I was your age!"

Kelly said, "Well, we've got to get to our first class of the day now."

Ryan said, "Rica's probably in Miss Sampson's classroom by now."

"All right, you three, have a nice day!"

Ryan, Susan, and Kelly left Principal Mazda's office.
